Dress Up Time

Kids had dress up days at school this week so I thought I would post their school attire.

CRAZY HAIR / CLOTHS
Jo styling the half Pig tail / half Curled and Down hair with some wild socks.
Cole with his bed head and wore his cloths backwards.
First day of dress up day, both kids were a little nervous to wear anything too crazy not knowing if other kids were going to dress up.

PJ's

Ok, get out of your PJ's and put on your PJ's for school please.

Yes, this is what I said that morning.

SUPER HERO
Jo went wild with Super Woman!
Cole just couldn't decide so he pulled Ichiro out of his closet.
Was SUPER proud of Jo for "going for it" on this day!

Neighborhood Party
We ran down to a local park for a party where the kids went through their first Haunted House and played many games and visited with friends from school.
BFF's Jo & Karly

Cole was done playing games quickly so Oma was negotiating a piece of candy from his bag of goodies.
Oma is lucky he is a sharing type of guy.

Corn-Glass-Celebrations

The Corn Maze is always a good time, long walk and good laughs.  This year Cole's "Brother from another Mother" joined us for the afternoon of fun.
After 45 minutes in the maze one can get a little hungry.
The corn seemed extra tall this year.
Cole and Jo want to go through the maze at night when it's actually haunted.  Oma and I think this year they were still too young.  But it also could be that I don't like haunting things and the thought of not getting scared myself?  I should be strong for the kids so if they get scared?  Well, I just think it will take at least another year to build up my courage.
Yes, another year at the very least.
Cow Ride is just fun stuff.

Pumpkins
Rules are rules, if you can carry it and put it into the wagon we will buy it.
OH, I GOT IT, THIS ONE IS GOOD! UHG!

One last run on top of the Hay Maze playing tag like all the other kids at the farm.

What could be better really?!

(Tired kids who were quiet that evening, that's what.)

Roof & Gutter Cleaning
The kids wanted to get onto the roof with Oma so she said "Come on up".
Then she said, "See this moss, leaves & sticks?  Pick them up and put them into the bucket."  WHAT?!  We have to work if we are up here?  And the three did a great job!

Glass Blowing for Martha's 50th Birthday!
We joined Martha's family and many friends to participate in an activity that she has come to really enjoy and wanted to share this joy with all of us.

Cole rolling his glass in the color he chose.

In the oven now to melt the color so it could be blown into a glass ball.

Jo taking her turn at rolling her color.

And after her color was all melted in she blew air through this tube as the instructor rolled and helped to shape her glass ball.

We all watched Martha create a glass bowl.  Quite a process and she has gotten very good.
You can see the joy that glass blowing brings Martha as she worked.

What a WONDERFUL time we had.
Happy Birthday Martha and Thank You.

Rachelle & Connie came up for a day of playing around.  Lunch, bowling, haunted store and some football watching.
Happy Birthday to Rachelle!
Sporting her new Beaver sweatshirt.

Our glass balls.

By Jo E, 2010

(This is a story written and illustrated by Jo E.  Spelling has been corrected and some punctuation has been added to help you read her story.  The writer gave me permission to post this as well.)

Once upon a time I wanted to go to candy land and my wish came true and I ate and ate and ate until I got fat.  But then I had to use a candy treadmill and 100 pound weights it was hard then I went to ice cream land and I ate some ice cream it was so good. I ate 3 whole buckets of ice cream then I was full then I had a cup of hot chocolate and it was so good that Prince Puckler came out and he said thank you for coming.  By I said I didn't have to pay any money and that it was fun.
(VooDoo Donut store)
Then I went to my house but it was sad because my powers didn't work.  I was so sad I started to cry so much my eyes and my face even my hands were red.  I started to be sick.  I was so sick I had to go to the doctors it was fun.  I got a sticker and a piece of gum.

I went to Voo Doo Donuts.  I double bubble it came with bubble gum  It was so good I ate it all up.  Then I went to Wild Life Safari. I got to see my two favorite animals they are my favorite it is a polar bear, tigers, lions and a bald eagle.  13 days later it was Halloween.  I was sad.  I said Mom I didn't get any candy she said why.  I don't no but I did get shoes.  I was still sad.

2 months later it was Christmas it was fun.  I got 1000 presents.  Only 1 was for my dad but he was still happy I finally got some presents.  I got a whole bunch of Pet Shops, donuts and toys.  I went to Papas Pizza. 1,000 months later it was my birthday.  I was very happy.
I gave Santa books to read.  My presents were dumb.  I got candle holders.  I said Mom do we have any candles?  When she was right next to me I said sorry!  Mom said just open your presents.  I did my sister got princess costumes.  I got littlest Pet Shop costumes.  Then my friend Karly came over we played Pet Shops with my costumes it was so fun.  Then we got candy it was so good I ate 5 pieces of candy then I went to the fair on Christmas. I got lots of Christmas decorations.  I also got reindeer cotton candy it was shaped as a reindeer.  I never got the Santa one.  I like the reindeer cotton candy.  After that it was Halloween.

More BS

Oma picked out the paint for our barn as she was afraid that I might pick purple again and this time she wanted it to blend more with our yard.

Nice middle class conservative colors Oma.
Really, the barn looks great as she calked and painted the whole thing.
(I can tell you that the floor is Kermit the Frog Green as I picked this color)

10-10-10 for 10
We met other crazy Geocachers for the Oct. 10, 2010 for 10 minutes event.
Corri, Derian, Gma Marie and Gpa Norman joined us.
It was raining...no...POURING so Gpa didn't get out of the car as he is still on crutches. The rest of us stood out in the Oregon Sunshine introducing ourselves to other crazy people like us.

We did run into an old friend and spent the next hour with them looking for more caches in the rain.
GeoCoinGuy, Mc4Some, TCDB & BS Family.
(Yes, this is how we introduce ourselves at Geocaching Events)
I think we are crazy, really I do.

After we dried off and warmed up a bit we met up with the rest of the Belmont's for lunch to celebrate Hannah's birthday.
Jo, Hannah, Derian & Cole
Happy 9 Years H!
 SUNNY DAYS AGAIN!
Warmed back up to the 70's so we got out and enjoyed the neighborhood.

Jo is getting quite tricky on her bike as she stands up and peddles now and looks backwards quite often. Though this type of riding while on family rides is going to give Oma heart problems as Jo has misses other bikes, walkers, trees and sign posts by only inches at times. We hear a lot of "JO, STOP" or "JO, PAY ATTENTION" or this one "JO YOUR SCARING ME, Pleeeeease look at where you are going!"
Cole is finally heavy enough to work his RipStick properly now and he is having quite a good time on the smooth street.

Jo & Cole heading to their friends house.
I snapped this shot and thought "Oh, they are growing up".

Rock Climbing

Cole likes to climb to the top of everything and fast.

Jo just likes to climb, up, down, sideways, slantways and upside down ways.

Jo also said that she wants to climb a "real" rock on a warm sunny day. I'd say "I think we found an activity that she really likes and will stick with" but I don't want to hex it so I wont say that yet.

Rock Climbing Class

Signed the kids up for a month Rock Climbing class and they were both very excited about it!
Real rock climbing shoes and everything.

And what is the very first thing they did?

Walk across a beam about 18 feet high!
I thought one of them if not both would contemplate the first step at least a little bit but noooo. Once the rope was attached they just started walking. Cole actually did a slide step all the way his first trip but the next two he walked with more confidence. Jo walked like it was only a foot off the ground and was across the beam as fast as her regular walking.
Both were smiling LARGE when they got to the other side.

Climbing to the top!

Jo would climb about half way and then let go to swing down.
Cole found it fun to climb to the top to touch the ceiling and then swing down.

Rock Cave
Both kids had fun trying to climb upside down inside the cave.
They came home quite tired after two hours of climbing. Jo showed us her hands as they looked rough and sore from all the work.

They are already looking forward to next weeks class.
