A Leap Year Post!

Cole is having a very good time with his basketball team even though he is teased often by friends and family that he is now a "Beaver".
He likes to take point as often as possible and has gotten much stronger this year with this shots.  Three pointers are becoming more of a reality for him.

Cole has been watching Bear Grylls on tv lately. (Bear Gryllis has become known around the world as one of the most recognized faces of survival and outdoor adventure.)
Yes, this is Cole on the roof of our shed.  He has also taken to walking the top of our fence and trying to run and scale the fence in a quick jumping motions.  (are we seeing a broken arm in our future?)

Strings Concert
Cole had his first strings concert and the only thing he was nervous about was the color of his shirt. (had to be "jewel" color)  He asked quite a few times "Other kids will have this color on too?"
It was a good concert with lots of kids from different schools playing together.  Cole was quite happy to perform in front of people and we think he has a renewed interest in playing again.  (now to get him to actually practice)
Oh, and he wanted me to note here that he didn't like the clip on tie either.

Jo...Oh, Jo!
We know many of you do not see this side of her but she is truly a hoot!
No, music was not playing at this time. She just came out of her room and said "Look at me Mom" followed by "Take a picture of me".
And then we have this...
I believe Oma has a similar looking picture when she was a kid.
Oh Jo!

Daytona 500
Gma Marie and Gpa Norman went to the 54th Daytona 500 as this was on Gpa's bucket list.  They have spent over a week in Florida and we have enjoyed reading and seeing their adventures on their blog posts.
Here they are actually in their seats at the Daytona 500.
I snapped this photo of our TV showing the whole race track and the lines down from their picture shows where their seats were.
The BS Family sure got excited to watch the race this year only because the Grandparents were in the stands.  Excitement through association.  And I think Gma & Gpa had a good time too.

Pie!
I love it that Jo likes to bake because we get some yummy things around here.
Cherry pie this week!  It's a breakfast food don'tcha know.

And on the 29th day of February ... .
SNOW!

Moving from Jan. to Feb.

My new mug kind of puts our household life into perspective.
If it's not one of the kids mumbling to us "Whatever", we are at the very least mumbling that to ourselves.

I Have No Fear!
Yup, what you are looking at is the inside back of our 42" TV.
Called a TV shop and they said at least $200 to fix it.

I told Jill that I could try and fix it and either save us a lot of money or it might cost us a whole new TV.  (No Fear because a 50" TV would be awesome!)
Yes, here I am!  Notice the circuit board, solder gun and a tool to suck solder.
(Ignore the double cheaters.  No, really...no need to make a comment here, and what's up with my hair? Oh...moving on now.)
Removed & Replaced four capacitors and the TV works GREAT!
Dang it! I mean GREAT!

Jo - Sewing!
Jo finished her first sewing project. "Beary"
She slept with this little bear for days.
Jo enjoyed sewing so much she is now in a sewing class at school this quarter and has started the next larger matching bear to Beary.

School Gym
I went to the kids' assembly and didn't get a single good photo of them.
However I did snap a couple pictures of the PE achievements.
Cole is on the list of kids who have climbed to the top of the Ropes.
Both kids are on the list who have stayed on the rock wall from end to end.
The goal on the rock wall is to not climb above the red line and not fall off from one side to the other.

SUPERBOWL
What is a Super Bowl Party without cotton candy?
Not much of a party really, couple folks here and good chili for dinner!
And home made shirts!
Awesome new shirts!

Affair of the Heart

Jo and I ate lots of chocolate,
ice-cream and any other free
sample they had available.

We came across the photo booth
towards the end of our time and
had to do this as well!

Jo also spotted a booth doing free
make up and asked me if she
could have hers done.

I said sure but she had to ask herself and by golly she asked!
Jo was glowing before this woman put the tip of the brush to Jo's eye lids.
Just enough too highlight her natural beauty.
(and enough make up that Jo could actually see it on herself)

Beaver Basketball
Yes, it's just about killing Cole knowing his team name is "Beavers".
But he is out there learning and enjoying the game.
And we are having fun cheering him on.
Go Beavers!
